My name is Kelli and I am passionate about being well and helping others be well. I believe that wellness begins with our body's ability to function, and just like a car without proper gasoline, our body cannot function properly without fuel. But not just any fuel- fuel that our cells crave, food that revs up our body and allows it to thrive. Fuel in the form of food, energy, emotion, passion, and nature. Wellness is something that we all possess; it just needs some nurturing and love.
Healthy eating never interested me... until college happened - acne, weight gain, intense fatigue, and overall discontent with my self. Being controlled by an unhealthy lifestyle was painful and depressing, yet I didn't even know it was happening. I did what most people do: I dieted. Then I got worse. I gained more weight, more acne, rocked a puffy face, had decreased athletic performance, major brain fog, inability to focus, depressed, anxious, caffeine dependent, and stressed out about food. This turned into struggles with restricted eating, binge eating and orthorexia as well as consistently abusing exercise. How did I escape this? I don't really know, and I can't really say that I have completely escaped it. I still struggle - I'm human, I'm learning. However, I have come a long way and learned an awful lot and the more I talk about it, the more I find that others have dealt and are dealing with the exact same thing, often times, much worse. I'm a good leader and a good teacher, not because I know everything (I don't), but because I get it. It's hard. But it won't always be - It takes some mindset shifts, habit changes and lifestyle choices. It's all about the food, yet it's not at all about the food.
